Instructions: |
1. Print out the box pattern. Cut it out. |
2. Choose a greeting card that is at least 8 1/2" to 9" in diameter. This is the size the card would be when opened unless you have a very large card and just use the front of it. Make sure that the entire pattern will fit on the card. |
3. Trace the outer line around the pattern with a
pencil on the wrong side of the card.
4. Cut out card along this outline. |
5. To make the inner lines (folding lines) as shown in the pattern, use your ruler and draw them in. |
6. Open your scissors and score each of these lines that you just drew. This will make folding the card easier. To score press firmly along the pencil line, but not so hard that you will cut the paper. |
7. The point at the top of the pattern will be the top of the box. |
8. Make folds on all of the inner lines. |
9. Now you are ready to glue the box together. Fold the left side in, then the right side on top and glue together. Then the bottom of the piece is brought up and glued on the top of the sides that are glued together. |
10. Fold the pointed top over. This forms the box. cut a small piece of velcro and stick underneath the point. The other piece of velcro should be placed so that the top will stay closed when pressed on. |
11. The samples above show one box with a ribbon bow. The other two samples have pictures that were cut out from the remainder of the greeting card that was used. |
The stiff cardstock works well for a tooth holder that may be placed under a child's pillow to await the Tooth Fairy. The finished 2 1/4" box may also hold rings or any other small keepsakes that you wish. |
