Kansas City, Kansas Friends of the Library Foundation
People image Who are the Friends? The Friends of the Library are people like you who believe in and support the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library as a valuable community resource.
The Friends of the Library was established in 1979 as a nonprofit organization seeking to establish a closer relationship between the library and the public it serves. The Friends worked to enhance public awareness of the library as a lifelong learning center. They promoted public use of the library's current services and facilities, while raising money and encouraging gift giving for the library's continued improvement. The Friends also sponsored programs and purchased equipment for the library that it could not otherwise afford, and paid for the publication of a monthly calendar of library events.

At the annual meeting in March 2006, the FOL members voted to rethink the purpose and organization of the  Friends. Since that time, the FOL Board has been working to regroup, and the funds have been transferred to the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.

The Friends will continue to support the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library through support for marketing projects, the Annual Summer Reading programs, and special library sponsored projects.

You will soon be able to help the Friends again by online giving through the Community Foundation Donor Edge program. Please visit this page in the future for more details, and thank you for supporting our Library.
