Materials
Two straight twigs, 12" long
Yarn, in a variety of colors
Scissors
Instructions
Find two twigs that are about 12" long and make a cross by placing one over the other.
Tie the twigs together by wrapping yarn around them, first one way and then the other. Do this until there is a nice, rounded hump that covers the twigs where they cross. This is the "eye". Tie off this yarn and choose another color. The "eye" in the sample photo is red.
Tie on the next color (purple) and keep the knot at the back of the stick. Bringing the yarn from behind, wrap it completely around the bottom stick close to the "eye". Continue on to the left (clockwise). Wrap around the stick once and go to the top stick. Wrap it around once and then go on to the stick on the right. Keep wrapping until you have reached the thickness you desire. Notice that a diamond shape will form.
Tie off this color and choose another (gold). Repeat instruction 3.
Tie off your last color and choose another (green). Repeat instruction 3.
Tie off your last color and choose another (yellow). Tie it off. You may add additional colors, if desired.
You may add tassels to the ends of the horizontal stick as shown above. To make a tassel cut about six 10" pieces of yarn and fold in half over the stick. With another piece of yarn wrap around the tassel and tie it tight to secure.
Tie a piece of yarn on to the top stick to make a hanger.
