Wallpaper Quilt Block

Materials

  • Wallpaper pieces
  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Instructions

  1. This craft was made using pieces of wallpaper samples from an old book acquired from a hardware store.  Those books are usually given away.  You might check with a store to see, if you can have one when new ones are received.  If you cannot find wallpaper, wrapping paper would also work.
  2. Draw a triangle.  Trace around it on stiff tag board paper.  Cut it out.  You will use this so that all of your shapes are uniform in size.
  3. Trace around this shape on your wallpaper.  To complete one quilt block you will need 8 triangles.  Cut them out.
  4. Take a 9" square piece of construction paper.  Find the center of this piece.  Measure in from the side and top 4 1/2" to find the exact middle.  Make a pencil mark.  This will be where the top of the triangles will meet each other.  Look at the quilt block sample above and place them as shown.  Glue these down.
  5. Now take the four outer triangles and glue them down as shown in the sample.
  6. Make a border with four pieces of construction paper 3/4" wide x 7 1/4" long.  Glue in place.
