NEWSPAPER PUPPETS

Created by Ms. Brenda
Materials needed:
  • Old newspaper (or a small catalog)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue
  • Markers
  • Construction paper
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Trim (such as pompoms, bows, etc.)
  • Facial features patterns

  Directions:
1 Close a double sheet of newspaper, and roll it into a tube.  Tape the seam all the way down, at least three inches from the top closed to secure it.  Instead of newspaper, you may find a small catalog and use it.  Two of the samples shown are made from newspaper and the other from an old catalog.
2 To make the hair, cut slits in the paper and then fluff them out.  Deeper cuts, make longer hair.
3 Add facial features using construction paper and markers, or you may click above for an assortment of eyes, noses, mouths, etc., that you may print, cut and glue on.
4 Add trim, such as earrings, mustaches, bows, etc., to each puppet using construction paper and pipe cleaners.
