- With your scissors clip 18
slits around the outer edge of a sturdy paper plate.
Make them all about one-half inch long.
- Tie a large knot in the end
of your yarn. Pull the yarn through one of the slits
that you just cut. The knot will hold on the back
side. This will anchor it so that you can start making
the web on the plate.
- Start going back and forth on the
plate until it resembles the one above. Be sure and
not pull too tightly or your plate will warp. You
may go into a slit more than one time.
- To stop the web pull the yarn to
the back side and slip the yarn under a piece of yarn that
has been placed in one of the slits. Remember that
this will be the top of the finished web. Now make
a hanging loop and tie off with a knot on the backside.
- Personalize your web with the letters
that are provided by clicking on in the materials list above.
Cut them out. You may need to make more than
one copy of the letters in order to complete your name. Glue
them to the yarn and decorate with small star stickers.
- Now you're ready to make the spider.
Cut two pipecleaners into eight equal pieces.
- Dip the end of each pipecleaner into
tacky glue and stick them into the gum tree pod for legs.
Bend the end of each leg to make feet.
- Glue on the wiggle eyes to finish
your spider and place him in the web catching his feet and
legs to hold.
