Ms. Vanetta's Favorite Family Fun Dessert
Ice cream
TIN CAN ICE CREAM

  • 1 CUP OF MILK
  • 1 CUP OF WHIPPING CREAM
  • ½ CUP OF SUGAR
  • ½ TEASPOON VANILLA EXTRACT
  • FRUIT (Optional)
  • Coffee cans: one 1-pound can and one 3-pound can with lids
  • 1 ½ cups of Rock salt
  • Crushed ice
Instructions:
Put all ingredients in small can and replace lid. Place small can into large one. Pack area around small can with crushed ice. Pour 3/4 cup of rock salt evenly over the ice. Replace Lid. Roll can back and forth on table or floor for 10 minutes. Open and take out small can and stir ice cream, making sure to scrape the sides! Replace lid and drain ice water from the large can. Place small can back into large can and pack with more ice and remaining salt. Roll back and forth, and back and forth, for another 10 minutes.
Open up, eat and enjoy! Makes about 3 cups
